Google is pushing the boundaries of personalized AI with its “Personal Intelligence” feature in Gemini, a proactive upgrade that lets the assistant infer users’ habits, tastes and daily details without being explicitly asked — essentially “reading your mind” through data from your Google account.
Originally launched in beta in January 2026 for Gemini app subscribers, the tool has gained fresh attention this month as reports suggest it is expanding to Gemini Live (the voice and camera-powered version). With explicit user permission, Gemini can now pull information from Gmail, Google Photos, Calendar, YouTube, Maps and other services to deliver hyper-relevant suggestions in real time.
The practical examples are striking. Forgot the exact model of your car when shopping for tires? Gemini can scan old invoices in Gmail or recognize the vehicle in your Photos and provide maintenance tips tailored to that specific make. Planning dinner after a concert? The AI cross-references ticket confirmations in your email, analyzes past food photos for your preferences, checks Maps for nearby spots and even suggests reservations that match your taste profile. Vacation planning gets the same treatment: Gemini reviews flight bookings and past trips to recommend destinations you’re likely to love.
Google describes Personal Intelligence as the next evolution of its AI assistant — moving beyond reactive answers to anticipatory help that feels almost intuitive. Early coverage from tech outlets confirms the feature draws on your personal data only when you opt in, with full user controls to revoke access at any time. It’s currently available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S., with broader rollout expected in coming weeks.
