The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is the pinnacle event for the advertising and marketing world. Every year, agencies and brands submit their best work, hoping to be recognized with a coveted Lion statuette. The first hurdle? Making the shortlist.
The Shortlist Process
The shortlist stage acts as the initial filter, with only the cream of the crop progressing to the final round of judging. This year, the process began in May with a global jury meticulously evaluating entries across various categories. The wait for creatives is on – but not for long.
Where to Find the Shortlisted Work
Starting June 15th, the anticipation will finally start to pay off. Shortlisted work will be unveiled on The Work, LIONS’ exclusive platform. This platform offers a wealth of insights and intelligence for the creative industry, but access to the full details of shortlisted entries comes at a price. Non-subscribers can only see a list of winners after the Festival, while subscribers get a deeper dive into the shortlisted campaigns.
A Huge Achievement
Making the Cannes Lions shortlist is a significant accomplishment. With less than 10% of entries typically making the cut, it signifies that your work has impressed industry experts. Being shortlisted is a moment to celebrate – it demonstrates your creative team’s talent and ability to stand out amongst the global competition.
The Road to the Lions
The shortlist is just the beginning. From June 18th onwards, shortlisted entries go before another round of judging. The stakes are high, as only 3% of entries ultimately receive the coveted Lion awards.
The wait continues, but with shortlist announcements on the horizon, the Cannes Lions buzz is sure to intensify. Keep an eye on The Work from June 15th to see if your work has made the cut, and celebrate the incredible achievement of making the shortlist, regardless of the final outcome.tunesharemore_vert
